First of all, I would like to put up a disclaimer that whatever that you’re going to read below are solely my own opinion and preference.
I’m by no means saying other domain registrars are not as good.
It’s just my two cents on this particular domain registrar.
Right, let’s talk about why we even need a domain name.
What’s domain name?
Domain name is simply an identity of your website.
You can use whatever domain name you like for your website.
Domain name is unique to each other.
Meaning there’s no same domain name exist throughout the internet.
There’s only single, one and only unique domain name.
And it’s meant to link to an IP address (via hosting) where the browser will show your website’s content.
So we’ll need to know that if next time we though of another better domain name, it may end up owned by another, and we’ll be paying ample of money to get hold of the domain name that we desire.
Normally we choose domain name via relevancy to the niche or the product that we want to promote.
Now we know what’s domain name. Let’s get back to the main topic.
Why I prefer Namecheap than other domain registrar?
There’s simple a few reasons.
1. Value for money
If you compared to other domain registrar, Namecheap is consider value for money. It already showed the yearly fee on the first time you buy a domain name. And it’s a fix rate every year when you renew. There will not be any surprise. Furthermore, you’ll get WhoisGuard protection for FREE on first year. So I would consider it as worth the investment.
2. Coupon code every month
Yes, you hear it right. Every month, Namecheap come up with a special coupon code to be used when you want to buy a domain name. You can use the coupon code to get a discount on your first year of purchasing the domain name. For example: .COM Registration is only $9.66 + $0.18 ICANN Fee.
This discount is good especially for launch-jacking affiliate marketers. Since affiliate marketers is focusing on promoting the product on certain period of time, thus they would want a domain registrar that’s cheap on the first year. In this case, Namecheap won the war on this.
You can easily find the link to the coupon code by typing “namecheap coupon” in Google search. Or just follow the link here.
3. WhoIs Guard
WhoisGuard is a service provided by Namecheap to protect domain owner’s details. It helps to protect domain owner’s privacy data.
Basically Whois database is accessible to anyone who have internet connection. You can know the name, address, email, phone number details of the domain owner by accessing this database. Thus, domain owner lost the intimate privacy, and open opportunities to spammers, online fraudsters and marketing firms.
With WhoisGuard service in place, you can rest assure your confidential information will be safe to yourself. Meaning it will not be available for public usage, thus keep your private data save.
The good news is, when you register a domain name with Namecheap, you’ll get WhoisGuard protection automatically FREE for the first year!
4. Two-code Verification
This is an extra verification in place like what usually bank did. It’s to protect your Namecheap account from being stolen. A two-code verification means after you’ve keyed in your username and password, there’s another level of verification when a special code sent directly to your cellphone number. After you keyed in the verification code only you’ll be able to access your Namecheap account.
Why is this important? Well, as you know good or popular domain name can cost a fortune. And we don’t want our valuable asset being traded without our knowledge. This this extra protection for consumer point of view. Although it’s quite tedious every time have to
This would be a win-win feature. We no need to worry if we forget to renew our domain name, and domain registrar will have consistent business. Auto-renew feature is not new anymore. But when we own ample of domain names, this feature becomes utmost important. In my opinion, it’s a must feature.
6. Various payment type allowed
Namecheap makes it easy for us to invest in a domain name by accepting various payment types. It can accept: MasterCard, VisaCard, AmericanExpress, Dwolla, PayPal, and even Bitcoin! Which makes payment to Namecheap convenient.

If your intended domain name is taken, it will provide relevant suggestions. This makes the whole process of finding the “best” domain name easier.
12. ICANN accredited registrar
This is what makes Namecheap trusted.
ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) is a nonprofit organization responsible for coordinating the maintenance and procedures of several databases related to the namespaces of the Internet, ensuring the network’s stable and secure operation. Basically it handles manage domain names, IP addresses, protocols, and root servers.
ICANN charges a mandatory annual fee of $0.18 for each year of domain registration, renewal or transfer.
Meaning buying from an ICANN accredited registrar will guarantee the domain name you bought will be yours and no other parties will have the same domain name as yours. It’s like a guarantee you own the domain name.
What I think needs to improve…
As great as it may seems with the above features, Namecheap does have a bit of uncomfortable downside. Here’s a list of what I think they need to improve on.
1. Loading time of domain list
Sometimes, I do experienced a long loading time when logged into Namecheap dashboard. It’s annoying when you’re rushing and just want to get things done. Hopefully they can improve it in the future.
In conclusion, I still prefer Namecheap as my domain registrar. They’ve provided a complete domain registrar solution. Packed with various features and easy to use options. Most importantly, Namecheap has a great support team that can always help you solve your issue immediately through live chat.
